How imby works
Local markets like Craigslist
imby is similar to Craigslist in that each city has it's own imby instance. Like
Each market has it's own twitter feed, like
What happens when you join
We tweet about it! The twitter account of the market you sign up in sends a tweet like the following:
You then have a profile.
And you show up in the directory under the tags you used, like this:
Weekly Email
We also send a weekly What's New email to all imby members. In this email, we include a special section about new members.
Social Graph
You can see which imby members you have a Twitter relationship with.
Filter by tag
You can even filter this by tag.
One click to follow in Twitter
And like everywhere within imby, you can follow someone on Twitter, right from within imby.
Events
Events listed in Meetup, Eventbrite, and Lanyard are automatically listed on imby in the appropriate city.
For events not listed on one of those event sites, you can list your events on imby. This process is fast the first time, and mostly automated for you after the first event. Try it here
Check out this quick video for creating an event.
What happens when an event is listed?
We tweet it right away, like this:
It's also listed in the calendar, like this:
The day of the event, we announce it as well:
Job Listings
Job postings are free on imby.
What happens when a job is listed?
First, we tweet it out to everyone in the city, with the tags used to describe it.
Like this gig posting, it'll probably get retweeted by imby followers.
We then send an email to everyone who has the same tags as that job.
